The Love & Grace of God
On 26 November 2011, Mum made a decision and took a cab by herself to visit a good friend living in Sengkang (Singapore). Our hearts rejoice and sing praises to God for His love and grace toward Mum and His children. At last, Mum is on the road to living a healthy life again.
Just about four months ago, Mum was admitted to CGH (9 July 2011) for indigestion and breathlessness. Her heart even stopped four times upon reaching A&E and had to be resuscitated.
Moreover, due to a history of thyroid imbalances, her neck had grown over the years and was partially blocking her airways. As such, the Dr-in-Charge recommended total removal of the thyroid gland and affected areas.
We thanked God for Dr Yuen of CGH and his good friend from SGH, who operated on Mum. The operation was a great success! Mum was discharged back home on 27 July 2011.
The first two months were a difficult time for Mum.
She came home with a walking frame. With lots of discomfort, as she has a history of piles as well. And I have to cook porridge for her every day, with Mum's guidance. In addition, I had to be by her side whenever she goes to the toilet and accompanied her through the nights. Then, she decided to change to a walking stick and went on to more solid food. Finally, she stopped relying on either, starts to eat meat, vegetables and becomes fully independent in her "activities of daily living" or ADL.
In retrospect, we thanked God for being with us throughout this season of life. In fact, we can never thank Him enough for His love and grace, except to continue to receive and receive and receive...
Thank you Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Forever grateful,
Mum, Joyce & Dennis, Caleb, Simon & Victoria, Daniel & Kennis, Nephew & Nieces

National Service (NS)
The Road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone, and i must follow if i can.
Pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way.
Where many paths and errands meet, and whither then? i cannot say.

A note about Greatness
Even
the great that lived among us and left, are not 100% great. Humans are
full of flaws. Nonetheless, since humans need role-models and
super-heroes, we reason, learn love and acceptance, exercise grace and
finally, make decisions about who are our heroes.
Deep down
inside, we know, there is none except The One, who was accused, bruised,
mocked, pierced and crucified for our transgressions, Jesus Christ, Son
of the Living God.
Have a Great! weekend.

The Beauty of Blogspot
Yes,
Blogspot is beautiful.
It still has its appeal. It is different from Facebook.
Blogspot allows you to write, edit, update, return, review, update, add, minus.
It feels more like a personal journal and you can change the background etc.
More importantly, there is something beautiful about Blogspot.
It is hard to explain.
But, when you return to your blog and look at it, emotions well-up...
Thank you Blogspot. Press on and never give up please.

"The Boy & his Flyers"
It
was Tuesday, Oct 18, 2011 and about noon time.
A bespectacled young Boy aged
about 10-11 yo was under a void deck and counting some stuff. "What is
he doing outside at this time of the day? Why is he not in school?" I
wondered. "O yes! It's PSLE marking days (17-20 Oct 2011)! But,
shouldn't he be preparing for his exams at home?" I thought to myself.
The next day, I saw
the same Boy. This time, he was underneath my block. "Why is he seated
here with his shirt on his back full of perspiration? Hey, is he holding
a stack of flyers? It looks like adverts for gas service. Wow! He is
actually distributing flyers to earn some money. I guess his family
maybe in need..."
Upon reaching my doorstep, I saw the same
flyer that the Boy was holding onto placed on my gate. Apparently, he'd
just distributed flyers in my block and was taking a short break at the
void deck. Somehow, something that this young Boy is doing touched my
heart. I wish him well and success in life. More importantly, I wish
every young person in Singapore will grow up and be a little like "The
Boy & his Flyers". I do not know what it is. You cannot see or touch
it. But it is something really beautiful on the inside of this Boy.
It's intangible yet tangible. You can feel it.
The Lord bless and keep him, his family and loved ones.

Aging, Jobs Creation & Becoming a Gracious Society
Moving forward, the way to go will be to set aside Annual Budget, to
purchase wheelchairs to be stationed at all major bus interchanges, MRT
stations, not just airports etceteras and to create jobs for the Able,
by employing "Ambassadors for The Elderly" at these places, to assist
The Elderly from bus interchanges to MRT stations, vice versa, and thus,
showing kindness to a greying population and making us a world model of
how to become a Gracious Society, not just aiming to be one.
That's just the way I see it.

The LORD's Great Love!
It is not just about how right we live or how much we love our Saviour today.
It is the understanding of what God had done in the past, just to make us right with Him
and how much our Saviour loves us, now and always.
It is written, "Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fails. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
