This is what it looks like tonight at SITEX 2008 after 9pm.

Time

Yes, one more month (in exact) and we will enter the new year - 2009. There's a saying, "Time will wait for no men". Is it true? What have we been doing with our time, when we still have it? What if someday we ran out of time? Will we live in regrets?

"Isn't it time to think about time when we still have it? Shall we waste it? OR spend it wisely for eternity? Selah."

Tension

You can feel it at home, work, in school and practically everywhere. Are you feeling it? What's happening to our world? The Bible has the answer.

A Few Great Men

Not many. Just a few great men in our land. Nonetheless, through these men, our land is prosperous and safe. I pray that these great men, who fought courageously in the past (you know who they are), will also have the courage to admit that they do need a living God to carry them through eternity victoriously. It's time to remember that Jesus is the truly the reason for the season. Nothing more, nothing less. Here's wishing everyone an early "Merry Christmas".

It's really not funny

Taken from The Sunday Times, 23 Nov 2008
"Trust me, the above is really nothing to laugh about."
Hint: Guess what is extinct now?

Use Hammer

I found the above quite interesting and amusing. It simply says, "Use Hammer To Break Window Glass". Whereas, I would say the Mandarin version is more accurate i.e. "During an emergency, use hammer to break window glass."

Final Fieldwork

Today is my final fieldwork for social studies. In total, we went to three places, namely, The Battle Box (Fort Canning), The Peranakan Museum (near Bible House) & finally, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Centre (near Maxwell Market).

World in Crisis

Our world is in crisis. One of the greatest after The Great Depression (1929-1939). From USA to Japan and right down-under, every country is now entering into recession. It simply means that more people will be out of jobs and will be tested in these difficult times. May God have mercy on us all.

IF you think deeper, the problem is more severe than any can imagine. In "The Year of Renewal", God is shaking everyone.

Jesus is returning soon.

AGM

Once a year, the BBHQ would hold the annual general meeting (AGM). Tonight, a record number of 95 companies out of around 113 turned up for the AGM. Apparently, it broke all previous records. Somehow I think the financial crisis is bringing people together?

Nevertheless, it was a wonderful evening! The thing that struck me most was the sharing by BB Asia. An effort to bring BB to the entire of Asia and beyond. To date, apart from Singapore, there are also BB Companies in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, India.

In the years to come, BB Asia has plans to start BB companies in South Korea etc. Isn't this exciting?! Look out for CAMP TEMASEK V, YOG & BB Singapore 80th Anniversary Celebrations in 2010! It's going to be an extremely exciting year! You can also be sure that a significant number of BB Boys & Officers from around Asia will join us in CAMP TEMASEK V 2010! The last time, we had many Boys & Officers from Thailand joining us! It was really a great time! Blessed weekend to everyone who is reading this! =)

Incredible Journey

It's past 2am in the morning; just completed my preparation for social studies fieldwork tomorrow (1:30pm-4pm) and had my shower. I must say that it has been an incredible journey. It stretches one and 'transported' one into a totally different paradigm in living. There's really no-end in learning and living. Seize every opportunity when it comes and do not worry about the outcome. Nonetheless, do calculate the cost & consequences, then take the step of faith! Once decided, never look back. The Lord has mercy and be gracious to us all. Amen.

Examination in Progress

You won't believe how serious they were when it comes to taking examination. The above sign boards were prominently tied to railings to remind candidates the consequence of cheating during examination.

I thank God for helping us through our only examination for this semester and the twenty or so assignments completed to date.

I pray in Jesus' name that everyone in my course will graduate in July 2009. Amen.

2008: The Year of Renewal!

It has been a rather eventful and yet challenging year for many of us in 2008.

Interestingly, almost everyone in the company is adapting to changes and undergoing renewal in 2008. From enrolment into the polytechnics to adapting to new BB operating hours, healing in the homes, new job, escape from death, new life in Christ, NS enlistment & marriage!

1. 07 Founder's Man Award Recipients (2007) - The highest number of FM recipients in the entire history of 72nd Singapore Company and to date, 04 of them are actively growing and in service! More importantly, even those who are not FM recipients, have grown and joined us in service! The company has matured.

2. BB Operating hours: Changed from 1pm-5pm to 8am-12noon, every Saturday! Stretching everyone to the limits!

3. A new batch of 11 Sec Boys joined us in 2008. Look out for them in 2009 & 2010! Not forgetting the Sec 2 & 3 Boys! What about the Sec 4? Look out for Ian Lim!

4. JM Fraser 2007: BRONZE! An achievement to show we are very much alive! What about 2008? Are we going to miss it?! Check it out in 2009! Someone is working 'secretly behind-the -scene'. God willing... we can! =)

5. Character Quest 2008: BRONZE! A significant achievement for our young ones!

6. "Miraculous" stories: Hear it from Gerald Ong, Pang Zu Han & Goh Jun Wei!

7. Answering to "The Call" - your BB Captain.

8. First-time ever! 72nd Singapore company is on "auto-pilot mode", more of the Primers & Officers and less of the Captain... A new challenge for all and stretching everyone's learning experience!

9. The enlistment of Elisha Ng & Tim Kiew for national service!

10. The Holy Matrimony of Mr Andy Chua Kok Hwang on 8 November 2008.

11. What's next for us in 2008?

We do not know the future. But we know WHO holds it.

Let us continue to work hand-in-hand to make 72nd truly a place to remember for a lifetime.

Blessed week to everyone reading this.

Regards,
From your Captain's desk
