• Hebrews 11:18, is the verse of the entire chapter!

• What do I mean? This is what it says, God had said to him, "Through Isaac your descendents will carry on your name." {God's Word Tranlation}

• The key question is, since through Isaac, Abraham will have many decendents, why did God request him to SACRIFICE Isaac?

• Have you ever been in a situation before where you try to look for answers in your life? What did you do? Didn't you try to reason out everything? Simply because we cannot live and act without a reasonable explanation for everything, isn't it? What did Abraham do? What was his reasonable explanation for what he was about to do?

• It is written, "Abraham believed that God could bring Isaac back from the dead..." Hebrews 11:9 {God's Word Translation} No wonder Abraham obeyed! For not only he knows God, but he believed that God could! Selah!

• Do you believe that God is able to perform miracles in your life?

• If yes, will you do what Abraham did? It is written, "When God tested Abraham, faith led him to offer his son Isaac..." Hebrews 11:7 {God's Word Translation}

• Today is a timely reminder to keep believing God, for "HE is able" regardless of the situation we are in right now. Do not stop believing, for we do not know how close we are to our finishing line.

• Do you not long to hear this? I do! "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!" Matthew 25:21, 23 {NIV, 2011} Thus, Timothy uttered, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 {NIV, 2011}

• iPray: "Dear God, in Jesus' Name, thank you for Your amazing grace that will help us not only to finish the race and to keep the faith, but also finishing well. Glorify thy Name in all the earth. Amen."

A Pilgrim-in-Progress

• In Feb, 1678, John Bunyan published his book entitled, "The Pilgrim's Progress: From this world to that which is to come." The book was divided into two parts and it chronicled the Christian journey here on earth.

• On 7 Jan 2011, a sneeze in the early morning while I was brushing my teeth, had resulted in the most unthinkable thing in my life! In medical term, I have suffered a L5 over S1, lumbar slipped disc.

• I was on medical leave since 10 Jan 2011 and it ends on this coming Saturday, 12 March 2011. Meanwhile, I am awaiting to see if my employer is able to re-deploy me to work in another department. In addition, to fill up my time meaningfully, apart from attending physiotherapy sessions at SGH, "exercising" at home and swimming at Safra Tampines to "get-well", as advised by the professionals, I had managed to catch up with a few "good-old-friends", i.e. Chia Poh Siong, Pastor Ang Eng Hoe, Francis Tan Hung Seng.

• I got to know Poh Siong during my young days at Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church or BBTC. We attended many church and youth camps together. The most memorable being "the YFC camp!" Poh Siong is currently running a fish farm business, which was featured in the papers and married with two kids.

• Eng Hoe is now a Pastor in a Presbyterian Church! This is simply the amazing grace and work of God! When we became "mentor and protege" in the early days at BBTC, I remember he had done badly for his primary education! But God has blessed him so much that he has completed his "Bachelor of Theology" at Trinity Christian Centre and can be ordained as a Reverend in the future. O yes, Eng Hoe is married with two kids as well. Praise be to God!

• Francis went to Tasmania with me from 1995-1997. We will never forget those "good-old-days" in Tasmania. There was never really a dull moment! Life was very simple and yet meaningful. The asians worked closely and relied heavily on each other for all kinds of support! E.g. Mental, social, emotional and even spiritual support! Francis was then the guitarist and worship leader and I was the cell-leader. He may not know this, but I do really appreciate him so much for all those years of support as a brother while in Tasmania. More importantly, he has proven time and again, to be "a friend indeed" when I am in need.

• On 10 Jan 2011, while I was at SGH's A&E Observation Ward, I was very touched that he drove down to SGH, to give me, my younger brother (Simon) and two of my BB guys a lift home! It was really very wonderful and kind of him to do so as a friend. The following weeks, he even invited me to join him for fishing at Bedok jetty; and with his wife, they drove and showed me around in town! Thank God for a good brother-in-Christ!

• This is my "Pilgrim-in-Progress" to date. I thank God for helping me to continue to trust in Him despite of my previous spinal injuries in 1985 during army days i.e. L3, L4 & T12 hairline compression fractures and my current lumber slipped-disc.

• C S Lewis wrote, "It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad."

• In short, with God, all things will work together for good! (Romans 8:28)

• To God be the Glory! For "He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed His steps; I have kept to His way without turning aside. Job 23:10-11

Building

"Never, never pin your whole faith on any human being: not if he is the best and wisest in the whole world. There are lots of nice things you can do with the sand; but do not try building a house on it." - C.S. Lewis on Building

The best and wisest in the whole world is none other than Jesus of Nazareth. He is truly the only human being to whom we can pin our entire faith in.

Apart from him, many will disappoint us along the way.

Therefore, we truly treasure those who are not self-seeking nor stick with us with all kinds of hidden agendas. In short, we need to invest our time wisely in humans and not waste time building a house "on the sand".

Whenever I see a series of ones, it reminds me to activate "Faith'!

In this world that we are living, He has another name and that name has many other meanings. As fellow dawn treader, it is our duty to voyage the unknown with no fear and believing that He is always there, ready to help us when we are tempted.

For without faith, it is almost impossible to bring to pass those dreams that have yet to come true. Thank God for 2010. In the new year, know this, "You are about to be tested once more!"

May the end of 2011 brings true joy, filled with many fruitful stories of adventure where you experience the presence of the One who is also called, "The Faithful One".

Absence

What does your absence mean to those around?

This is one of life's important questions to reflect on if you want to live life to the fullest.

Growing wise

It takes a pretty long time for one to grow and be wise.

Unless someone takes the trouble to teach you wisdom. Otherwise, the journey is tedious. Nevertheless, even if someone teaches you, it may not mean much until one got "bitten" by an experience. Yes, it is quite unfortunate that most need a painful experience to learn the word, "wisdom".

In fact, many do not even know "what on earth they are doing here".

The truth is, when God brings us into this world for His pleasure.

Yes, we are supposed to be His delight. Obviously, sin has separated us from Him. Therefore, we need Jesus, to bridge the gap between "man and God". Tell me, who else but Jesus mentioned that the penalty of sin is death? And that God sent His Son, Jesus, to save the world from their sins?

As such, if you will think simply and logically, it makes very good sense for us to receive the forgiveness of our sins. Once we admit our flaws and realise our need for a Saviour, it sets us free from a meaningless life.

It is rather pathetic if the sole purpose of living is to grow, attend kindergarten, primary, secondary, jc, poly, ite, and the university, go to the army, find a job and a wife, marry, have children, do a little community service, show kindness, go on tours, visit countries, pick up a hobby to hang out with a bunch of buddies who are not true friends, buy a car, house, property, jet, diamond, gold, silver, build a castle to show your wealth... and in the end still feeling empty inside.

So, what are you waiting for?

He is just beside you waiting for a response from you. It costs you nothing to simply receive. But, it costs God everything He has. It is written, "For God so loved the world that He gave His Only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

It's Sunday! Jesus is alive! forevermore!

Jesus said, "It is finished." John 19:29-31

Many are not aware of the significance of the above "three simple words".

It was Jesus' last but best kept toward the end of His Story or History of mankind!

It was the completion of His work on earth.

It crushed and destroyed all the works of satan; and set us free totally once and for all!

More importantly, it has re-written the fate of all humanity there and henceforth!

These lines written are but a grain of sand on the shore...

I can't wait the day when someone produces a movie to demonstrate the signicance of those three simple words, "It is finished."

Imagine God the Father speaking to Jesus, "Son, your task is to suffer pains, die and rise again from the grave. AND to save our Creation, you must resist temptations, fight all evils and be willing to go through the entire process of crucifixion. Just like a sheep that is being led to be slaughtered..."

Then, the day came and Jesus said, "It is finished." "The End."

We are in such a competitive world that if we are contended just for a season, we will be out of business very soon.

After a long absence from blogging, they have added a new tab "new post", after you have logged in. It makes posting easier and less of a hassle.

Blogspot better speed up its software soon. Otherwise, everyone will be using FB instead. It is so much easier to use and extremely user-friendly.

That's just the way I see it!

Marker vs Recorder

The PSLE exercise ended yesterday.

It was from 19-22 October 2010.

Last year, I was a marker. This year, I was a recorder.

I enjoyed both roles if you are wondering which I prefer.

Nobody

Only One, He is JEHOVAH.

Personal Reflection

I can recall vividly, the Teachers' Investiture took place on 13 July 2009. I was enrolled into NIE on the 15 June 2008. How time flies?! It's been like 2 years and close to 3 months with the ministry.

In retrospect, it has always been a journey of faith and believing God to lead . Our job is simply to "Hear & Obey" or Pastor Michael Ross Watson called it "Inculcating the Human Spirit" in his sermon dated on 29 Aug 2010.

Term 3 had just passed-by. On 4 September 2010, I visited COMEX 2010 with Ron Koh and wanted to buy a netbook. In the end, I ended up buying "something-in-between".

It's an ASUS 13.3" UL30A "notebook". It weighs 1.45kg and costs $698. It has an Intel Celeron processor. Initially, I thought I had bought a good computer. After using it, I encountered problems. It kept "hanging". I was disappointed and decided to call ASUS Helpdesk.

I found myself at ASUS's service centre today at Adelphi (opposite FUNAN IT Mall) together with Dominic Lim. My decision to buy an electronic product with a service centre in town was a correct one! It makes life simpler and less of a hassle.

In the end, I am thankful to God that the problem with the "hanging" lies in the pre-installed virus protection software. The service engineer simply uninstalled it and "bingo!" That's it!

It changed my mind about the computer that I bought. I like the service centre. I like the after sales service...

Thereafter, Dominic and myself had our lunch and decided to watch a movie at Century Square. But God had a different plan for us. We walked... bypassed the Saint Andrew Cathedral and a "voice" instructed me to return and enter the "Welcome Centre".

We walked in and Josephine greeted us. After a few minutes, she offered to show us around and be our personal tour guide! It was amazing! Right under the "Welcome Centre" was a Church Worship Hall! It's BIG! The entire place and its history, was simply beautiful. No wonder it was gazetted as a monument on 28 Jun 1973 and we have alot to thank Sir Stamford Raffles for this wonderful place of worship and ministry. Enjoy the below photos that were taken today.

If not because of Jesus, everyone is destined to the bottomless pit!
What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Day and night, we toil to make a living.
At the end of the day, what are we really working for?

Our birth and our death, we are not even in control.
Who are we then to question the Creator of this universe?

When are we going to humble ourselves?
When when when?

When are we going to acknowledge we need God?
When when when?

It is written, do not wait another day.
Receive Him when it is called, "Today".

Believe in Jesus.

Move on!

A brain with countless living cells is able to control our entire being. Without it, we are brainless people. Isn't it a miracle?

This brain stores every information from the day we are born. Good ones and bad ones. Good ones we tend to remember for a long long time. Bad ones no one really wants to remember them. Whichever the case, everyone is the sum of the past, present and future. What happened yesterdays cannot be undone. But we can "salvage" our past, by making a heart decision today to rewrite the future i.e. by doing what is right and not to repeat the past.

Everyone can. What matters most now is what we do tomorrow. The past will bury itself. Moreover, once confessed, it is forgiven. So, do not live in the past any longer. Move on. Dwelling on past mistakes will only slow down your pace and it hinders progress. If need be, cry all you want, and move on! "Someone loves you!" Ministries

Resting in the Lord

School has officially opened at this hour.

In about 7 hours or so, I will be back in school running about.

This June holidays had been my most refreshing and awakening time of my life.

After laying off flying for twelve years i.e. since my return to Singapore from Perth (Australia) in Nov 1998, I have decided to take my "First Flight Out" of Singapore, by flying to Kuching with a dear brother and catching up with another dear brother who lives in Kuching (East Malaysia), from 8-11 June 2010.

It was a good time "Resting in the Lord", doing the things that I did not have the opportunities to do so when I was busy at work.

I have discovered the importance of "taking a break". It refreshes and clears one's mind. It enables one to think clearly and to reflect upon one's life and the purpose of living.

Though it has not been revealed to me yet what is in store for me, I wait in anticipation what our good Lord has for me and those around me.

I believe He has a good plan for one and all, to prosper us and to give us a future and a hope.

Keep believing my dear friends out there who have been following this blog faithfully.

Trust your entire future to a ALL knowing God.
