ANDY CHUA KOK HWANG

On this day, the eighth of November, in the year two-thousand and eight, marks The Holy Matrimony of Mr. & Mrs Andy Chua. Our heartiest congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Andy Chua!

Mr. Andy Chua has come a long way. From a Boy of Fengshan Primary School, he joined the The Boys' Brigade in Singapore when he was in primary three or four... (I can't recall).

At one stage, Andy almost quit BB. If he had, we wouldn't have him with us today! Nonetheless, Praise be to God! A wise decision was made then by the Officers i.e. despite of his not very impressive attendance, Andy was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (LCP).

In those days, the highest rank was Staff Sergeant (SSG and WO was added on later). Thus, it meant a lot to Andy, who was about 14 years of age. After the promotion, Andy began to "rise-up" as a fine young leader in The Boys' Brigade.

When Andy was studying at Siglap Secondary School, I was doing my studies in Australia (1995-1998). I remember there was once when our former Captain, Mr. Patrick Oh & myself were away and Andy was called upon to help us to 'run the company' for about two weeks! It was simply amazing!

Andy rose from "rank and file" rather quickly. From a LCP, he went on to be a Warrant Officer (WO) - The very first! WO in 72nd Singapore Company! Thereafter, Andy went on to be a Founder's Man! Without a doubt, it boosted his confidence even further!

Nonetheless, our BB Officer, Mr. Andy Chua, is not a man who is unfamiliar with failures. Check with him and you will hear stories of how his God had helped him through the years.

There is something very special about Mr. Andy Chua that I would like to share here. He is one man that hardly raise his voice at anyone (apart from training Boys). You can say, Andy is a gentleman. Indeed, a man with lots of power and yet able to control it extremely well. That's the reason why we worked very well together. And when I am not able to control a situation, Andy will usually handle it on my behalf. That's the strength of Andy and I thank God for his love, patience and co-labour in The Boys' Brigade at Bedok North Secondary School since 1996... till this very day. Yes, Andy is also a faithful servant-of-God.

We wish Mr. & Mrs Andy Chua the Blessings of God & a God-Blessed Marriage.

Love from,
72nd Singapore Company
