No government in the world can ever 100% eradicate poverty from the surface of the earth! In developed countries, you will still find the homeless. In Asia, you will find beggars on the streets. In Singapore, you will find people, usually the elderly, peeping into dustbins to collect aluminium cans for sale. Or illegal hawkers on the streets or housing estates selling fruits, otah-otah, or anything that is edible. Often, you will also see people with disabilities or the elderly selling tissue papers at the entrance/exit of MRT stations or Hawker Centres. This is the result of industrialisation. It's about the "Survival of the fittest!" The fittest get to stay on the race and the weak, fall-out.
